Welcome to Class Esk and Nidd.

The Nursery (Esk) and Reception (Nidd) children learn together as a team in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Our Teachers

Our teacher is Mrs Beaumont and we also have Mrs Pfluger (HLTA) and Miss Barker (TA) in the Early Years Team.

On a Thursday we also have some visitors to our class.  Mr Jeff teaches us PE and Mrs Sadullah teaches us Spanish.

Our Day

Every morning we come into class and self-register.

We then come together as a class to do the days of the week and the weather and check in.

After check in we have a short session linked to our interests, which may be dinosaurs, mini beasts and many more!  Following that we all choose where we would like to do our independent learning.  We have so many challenges in each area there is always lots to keep us learning.

Before lunch we learn about numbers and then we all enjoy a sing or a story. During the afternoon we will do phonics and we have some special time to talk in our groups with Ginger Bear as well as more time for independent learning.

At home time we enjoy a story all together.

Other activities

We are very lucky to have our Forest Schools area in school and we all have the opportunity to explore this area, so don’t forget your wellies and waterproof coat!

Mr Jeff teaches PE on a Thursday.  We will also have an extra session of PE each week which may not always fall on the same day, so please make sure you have your PE kit in school at all times.

Mrs Sadullah also teaches us Spanish on a Thursday .

We all enjoy baking so we try to bake as much as possible throughout the year.

Stay and Play and Singing together

Tuesday afternoon at 2:30pm our Parents and Family are invited to join us for Stay and Play.  Before we go home we enjoy singing with our grown-ups too.

Charlie’s Challenge

Challenges are put on the website.  Challenges are set for you and your grown up to do together at home.  It might be a baking activity or finding seasonal treasures.  It is important that you spend some time every day reading with your grown up and practising your sounds and tricky words.

Early Excellence

We are currently updating our learning journeys and will very soon be launching our new profiles.  All the children have their own Learning Journey folder which can be viewed securely online by parents any time anywhere. In order for you to be able to see and share in your child’s learning, you will need to have provided us with an email address.  This is a fantastic way of sharing information between home and school and we look forward to seeing those postcards.  A letter inviting you to provide your email and set a password will be provided to you.

If you can spare any time to come into the setting to help with baking, reading, woodwork or even just to spend time with the children learning in the setting please let us know!

As always, thank you for your continued support in your child’s journey through school.
