Welcome to Class Esk and Nidd.
The Nursery (Esk) and Reception (Nidd) children learn together as a team in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Our teacher is Mrs Lavell and we also have Mrs Pfluger (HLTA), Miss Barker (TA), Miss Haselden (TA) and Miss Dickinson (TA) in the Early Years Team.
On a Thursday we also have some visitors to our class. Mr Jeff teaches us PE, Mrs Sadullah teaches us Spanish and Mr Heath teaches us Music.
Every morning we come into class and complete a morning challenge.
We then come together in small groups for check in and share how we are feeling.
After check in we have a adult led input, in which we learn our Phonics or Topic.
Next we all play and choose where we would like to do our independent learning. We have lots of challenges to keep us thinking.
Before lunch we learn about Maths and then we all enjoy a sing or a story.
During the afternoon we will do Literacy and more time for independent learning.
At home time we enjoy a story all together.
We are very lucky to have our Forest Schools area in school and we all have the opportunity to explore this area, so don’t forget your wellies and waterproof coat!
We all enjoy baking so we try to bake as much as possible throughout the year.
All the children have their own electronic Learning Journal on EExAT. EExAT is a fantastic way of sharing information between home and school. We will send home termly updates of your child’s learning and we look forward to seeing your input too. In order for you to be able to see and share in your child’s learning you will need to have provided us with an email address and we will create a personalised log in for you.
Please remember to look on our Twitter feed to see what we are doing in EYFS – please look in Google at @BrothertonEYFS
Bloomz is a fantastic way of communicating with parents so please make sure you sign up. We will use it to give you regular updates of events, our learning, any challenges and copies of letters and homework.
If you can spare any time to come into the setting to help with baking, reading, woodwork or even just to spend time with the children learning in the setting please let us know!
As always, thank you for your continued support in your child’s journey through school.
