Aire What’s Happening This Week

Aire Activities For Weeks Beginning 5th October

English:

We will be reading the traditional tale Jack and the Beanstalk. We will act out the story with puppets and sequence the story before we have a go at retelling the story.

Phonics:

This week we will all keep practising the alphabet and learning tricky words in Phase 2, 3, and 4 of Letters and Sounds.  (If you would like more information on this programme please let us know).

Groups will focus on:

OWLS—  blending three letter words and the ‘ck’ sound

BATS—  using sounds ‘j’ ‘ch’ ‘sh’ ‘ai’ ‘ee’

BADGERS—  using sounds ‘ar’ ‘ng’ and reading longer words

FOXES—  using sounds ‘ay’ ‘ou’ ‘ie’

Maths:

We are always counting in 1s 2s and 5s and now are practising counting in 10s up to and beyond 100.  We will also be adding and taking away number

Sentences. We will also continue to practise writing numbers in words and

figures.

 

Topic:

This week we are continuing focusing on what we are made of and will also be talking about what other animals are made of.  We will be learning what

herbivores, carnivores and omnivores are. We will also be learning about birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and invertebrates.
